PEOPLE of different faiths have been coming together in Sheffield to discover how much they have in common.
Sheffield Islamic Society organised a week of events for Islam Awareness Week.
It included an awareness day at Bramall Lane and yesterday St Mark’s Church, Broomhill, also hosted a food and friendship event.
Society president Abdool Goolgar said the aim was to combat a rise in ‘Islamaphobia’ after terrorist attacks.
He said: “We are trying to get the message out that the meaning of Islam is peace.
“All faiths have a small hardcore element and they do not speak for the faith - they speak for themselves.”
