A SOUTH Yorkshire man awarded a huge compensation payout after being disabled by an accident at work should receive around £4.2 million in total during the course of the rest of his life.

Christopher Kaye, 57, suffered life-threatening injuries when he was hit in the face by heavy machinery at a Euro Dismantling Services site in Attercliffe, Sheffield, in 2008.

His settlement will take the form of a £1.75m lump sum, plus index-linked and tax-free annual payments of £135,000 to cover the costs of the care Mr Kaye will need for the rest of his life. The company accepted 90 per cent liability.
