NEW Year celebrations are set to go off with a bang in a Sheffield suburb.
Fed up with high costs and being let down by parties, residents of Stannington are hoping to bring the community together to welcome 2013.
The Lomas Hall in Church Street will play host to a celebration featuring a 60s tribute band and disco, along with food and a reasonably-priced bar. Everything has been organised to keep costs to a minimum to extend the event to as many people in the village as possible.
Carly Whitfield, Stannington resident and party co-organiser, said: “The idea for a local party came about after moaning that New Year’s Eve is so often a let down, and an expensive one at that.
“We wanted to bring a party to the village for everyone to enjoy and create something that represented really good value for money. It’s a perfect central venue so locals don’t have to worry about paying for a taxi home.”
Tickets are available from the Rose and Crown, Stannington and Stannington Fruit and Veg Shop at £12.50.
