Doncaster’s One Direction star Louis Tomlinson is set to have some competition in the household when it comes to being a hot hunk.
And that’s because his mum Johannah’s fiancee Dan Deakin has been named as South Yorkshire’s best groomed man.
The personal financial adviser, who lives in Hickleton, was named the county’s number one in a glittering ceremony at Meadowhall after winning a public vote to mark National Men’s Grooming Day.
He said: “I’m no Brad Pitt but I think it is important to look good and feel good. If other people feel the same way about me than that’s a lovely compliment.”
Six men from across South Yorkshire took part in the contest with the winner being decided by public vote on Facebook and Dan was announced as winner at the shopping centre by Doncaster-based beauty and make up consultant Blondie, who helped judge the competition with Scott Bradshaw of Alan Paul Hairstylists.
Dan added: “I’d say it usually takes me around 25 minutes to get ready in a morning. I like to look good but I’m not going to stand around for hours. Sleep’s equally important when trying to look healthy.”
He said his routine involves washing twice daily with facewash, before applying moisturiser and occasionally applying eye serum. He also admitted to using facial scrubs once or twice a week – as well as drinking plenty of water.
“That’s massively important for healthy looking skin,” Dan added.
But he does draw the line at make-up.
“I’ve worn a little bit of concealer on the odd occasion, but I am not into guyliner or anything like that.”
Dan received a male grooming prize worth more than £250, including six styling sessions at Alan Paul and £100 worth of American Crew male grooming goodies.
Male grooming is a fast growing sector, with research indicating that men ‘up North’ have the most sophisticated skincare routines. Research also shows a reported one in ten men wear makeup, with one in three spending over 20 minutes ‘looking the part’ before heading out.
