Parkway reopens after bomb found

SHEFFIELD Parkway has reopened after it was closed for more than two hours when World War Two bomb was found.

A workman made the discovery at 3pm today, while the centre of the carriageway was being excavated, as part of roadworks near the A57 turn off between Prince of Wales Road and Handsworth.

Traffic was diverted from the Parkway via Prince of Wales Road, while an Army bomb disposal team made the device safe.

The closure caused rush hour traffic to grind to a halt in parts of the city centre.

The Parkway was eventually reopened at 5.15pm.
