All the fun of the fair met exotic music, food and a host of activities when a popular carnival made a welcome return.
The Darnall Carnival took place after a break of 15 months – and organisers said the comeback event was a resounding success.
Circus workshops, crafts and food stalls all drew crowds to High Hazels Park, along with entertainment from Bhangra acts Nafees, Sama Blake, Deen Janjua and Sajaad.
Nazia Fazil, from Darnall Forum, said the Friends of High Hazels Park had raised funds to revive the carnival, which she described as a ‘chance to have fun’.
“They’re dedicated to getting local people to come and enjoy their local park,” she said.
“It’s a wonderful place to go for fresh air and to do all the things that you can’t do cooped up in a tiny house.”
Nazia added: “We organised a similar event in 2012, but it was more about information and advice, and showery weather put a damper on some of the more fun things that we tried to do.”
Grants were provided by Awards For All, Sheffield Town Trust, J G Graves Trust and Darnall Area Trust Fund.
