Parish clerk steps down

A WELL-known council clerk, local government officer and former councillor has retired after 20 years as clerk to Wortley Parish Council.

Frank Sheldon, aged 73, of Oughtibridge, was also a former clerk to Hunshelf and Stainborough parish councils.

He worked for Barnsley Council for 40 years where he was a recycling officer.

Frank had also been a member of Bradfield Parish Council for 20 years where he was chairman three times and at one time the youngest chairman in the council’s history.

To mark his retirement members presented Frank with a printer for his computer and his wife Mary, also a former member of Bradfield Parish Council received a bouquet.
