My heart goes out to the family whose dog was savaged by a Staffordshire bull terrier.
I am at a loss to see why no action was taken to make sure the dog did not repeat the action.
It is not the first time this kind of incident has been reported in the Star and action should be taken to keep that kind of dog on a leash.
Dog owners should be held responsible for the action of their dog.
My vehicle was once badly damaged by a large dog and the owner said you cannot sue a child and you cannot sue a dog.
He then told his insurance company the dog had been left in a secure garden and had dug its way out.
My insurance company dropped the case.
I hunted around the estate and found the dog had been on the loose before when a disabled person had been confronted by it.
I took a photo of the garden which wasn’t secure and I won my case.
That Staffy dog was running wild and free yet no action was taken against its owner.
