SHEFFIELD Wednesday are aiming to recruit a new generation of fans – with the relaunch of the club’s family area for tomorrow’s game against Wolves.
The club are to unveil Ollie’s Kids Zone in the Grandstand – where younger supporters and their families can enjoy a new pre-match activity programme.
The area, named after mascot Ollie Owl, features Wednesday-themed murals created by visual artists Urban Canvas and will be hosted by staff from the SWFC Community Programme.
At each home game a range of activities, aimed at under-11s, will take place in Ollie’s Kids Zone from 1.30pm until kick-off including face painting, competitions with exclusive prizes, the chance to meet members of the first-team squad and Ollie Owl.
Hillsborough Library will host storytelling sessions and girls from the SWFC Community Dance Troupe will be performing on the concourses and run interactive sessions.
A new charity kiosk will boost local Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
It will be staffed by volunteers from the Community Programme, with stadium caterers The Lindley Group donating the equivalent wages to the charity.
The kiosk will have a new menu for young fans, with smaller portions and healthier options.
SWFC ticket office manager Alastair Wilson, said: “We are delighted to announced the relaunch of our family area and new activity programme and hope this area will enhance the match day experience.
“The club aims to encourage more families to Hillsborough and hope initiatives like our family area and matchday entertainment package will help attract the fans of the future.”
