Sheffield Wednesday representatives headed out into the community to help brighten up a scout hut.

231 Sheffield Shiregreen Scouts’ building on Barnsley Road was given a lick of paint by the club’s junior players and volunteers from Shiregreen Community Centre. Outside, overgrown shrubs and banking were tidied to make access to the scout hut safer, and concrete fencing was painted.

After the makeover, the spick-and-span building was inspected by Brightside and Hillsborough MP David Blunkett.

Peter Gowers, scout group leader, said: “We are grateful Sheffield Wednesday and the community centre were able to help us out.”
