Have your say

Overall I thought we just about deserved the win against Boro.

Loovens and Onyewu looked solid at the back, Hutchinson had a good game in midfield and Lavery was full of energy up front.

And Mr D’Urso did his bit for us with the denial of Boro’s “goal” and the penalty award.

I can’t have been the only Wednesdayite who held his or her breath that little bit more when Nuhiu grabbed the ball, but fair play to him as he took it very well.

Hopefully we can keep the form of the last 16 games going until the season end and be competitive in this league.

The Championship is a tough place to operate - Forest lost £17m in 2012/13, with a wage bill of £21m. Leicester lost £34m in 2012/13 with a wage budget of £26m.

Compare those figures to our loss of £3.9m and a wage budget of £11.9m.

Until Financial Fair Play really starts to bite, the owners who are willing to sustain big wage budgets and significant losses will generally see their clubs in the top six.

MM is getting us to a position where we can comply with FFP rules of a maximum £3m loss but I doubt he will be able to fund the additional £5m loss that can be supported by an owner.

Hence the need for new investment to give us that chance of competing for a play-off place, but it doesn’t sound like the reported Qatari consortium is it.

The statement that raised expectations was very similar to one from one the same agent regarding investment into Queen of the South!

It is a long haul, but establishing our club on firmer financial ground is the right thing.
