Tens of thousands of visitors flocked to the annual Bakewell Show - with the event’s manager saying attendance numbers were up on last year.

The dry weather brought out the crowds to the Peak District showground last Wednesday and Thursday, enjoying the usual agricultural contests, stalls and entertainment.

Show manager Janet Bailey said: “I’d estimate we had 60,000 plus people through the gates.

“The numbers were definitely up on last year.

“It was amazing, the weather was perfect and I was delighted.

“Some of the traders had an exceptional turnover and the charity stands have really done well too.

“The feedback we’ve been getting is that everybody is happy, and I’m tired but very pleased.”

The country show - affectionately known as the Little Royal - was in its 183rd year.
