In a world filled with questionable role models, Sheffield has something unique in the amazing athlete that is Jessica Ennis-Hill.
She is a phenomenal, international sportswoman but known for always giving back. A celebrity yet also a lovely person who wants to do well, and in doing so helps others. This is a woman who made it clear that it is fine to make your family the top priority, while still giving 110 per cent to your career. That is a powerful statement to all young mums battling with the daily balance of life. The fact she discovered her athletics prowess through a holiday club because her mum needed childcare brings a smile to everyone in a similar situation. Jessica Ennis-Hill is clearly one of the most determined and driven people you could meet, she is also one of the best known faces in the country. Yet she makes time for the many youngsters g at EIS and the many requests for appearances or patronage of Sheffield events. So Jess, we feel your disappointment at only just missing out on that second gold but please don’t think for one minute that Sheffield will ever be disappointed in you or your performance. Inspirational in more than the obvious ways.
