With their lives ahead of them Bartosz Bortniczak, aged 18, Blake Cairns, 16, Arpad Kore, 18, Jordanna Goodwin, 16, and Megan Storey, 16, all died in a car crash in Conisbrough, Doncaster, on Saturday night.

Five teenagers with hopes and dreams unfulfilled. Five families in grief as their loved ones went out of the door for an evening of fun and never returned.

Danum Academy in Doncaster – where four were students and one an ex-pupil – will today be trying to come to terms with losing some of their most treasured children.

Headteacher Rebecca Staples has painted a picture of five teenagers with the world at their feet.

Funny, loyal, hard-working, beautiful, sporty, lovable – they are the kind of young people that are a credit to their parents and their school.

In the weeks to come we will find out why the car they were travelling in crashed with such tragic consequences. The outcome of the investigation won’t bring the five back but it may help their families understand what happened. For now the world is a sadder place without them here.
