We’re giving a giant pat on the back again today to one of Sheffield’s most famous faces.
The Mad Man with the Pram, as John Burkhill is affectionately nicknamed, regularly features in The Star, along with scores of other fundraisers every week.
It’s part of The Star’s role, as a community newspaper, to highlight the good work going on in South Yorkshire and we’re pleased and proud to do so.
This week it’s Local Newspaper Week and the theme is Making A Difference so each day we will be reporting on some of the great things YOU do to help your community and your city.
Putting the spotlight on these activities to help you achieve your goals is also one of the ways that the newspaper makes a difference in the community.
Where a community has a bee in its bonnet we’re there too, reporting on the issue, be it trees being felled or bus passes withdrawn.
We run our own fundraising campaigns too and pay tribute to the great work in schools, to celebrate businesses, to honour our Superkids to name but a few.
And The Star works hard to bring you the news that affects YOU- in print, online and through social media
