“We believe in the location, the building and Sheffield.”
It’s always nice to get a compliment - especially when it comes from a firm planning to spend £20m on a couple of city centre office buildingsas reported in today’s Business Weekly.
Scarborough Group, Sheffield United owner Kevin McCabe’s property firm, is behind plans for Phase Two of the flagship Digital Campus.
On ice since recession, the company believes the time is right to get the project moving again.
Scarborough’s Mark Jackson says the company could go ahead and build even if it didn’t have a tenant before work starts. Provided the council grants permission of course.
Now that’s confidence in the economy.
The blocks are set to stand alongside two existing Digital Campus buildings by the bus station.Phase Two is a fantastic opportunity to potentially treble the area’s digital workforce.
Last week Nick Clegg was in Sheffield to launch TechNorth, a digital cluster spanning northern cities, along the lines of TechCity in Shoreditch.
Hopefully, someone has started lobbying for its headquarters to be in Sheffield.
