OPINION: Delight at more jobs

It has certainly been a bumper few weeks for jobs being created in Sheffield.

Last month it was announced that 600 jobs would be coming to the city with an expansion at Kilner Way retail park.

And now hundreds more jobs are coming to the city with a Chinese development planned between Bramall Lane and London Road.

The New Era Square development scheme is costing £65 million and is coming to fruition thanks to investment from businessmen based in mainland China.

To secure investment on this scale is fantastic news for Sheffield and those behind the scheme should be congratulated.

It shows that there is confidence in the city’s economy and those involved in the scheme are full of enthusiasm for Sheffield.

The development will be a mix of homes and businesses and revitalise an area of the city.

But there is no room for complacency. Politicians believe the development could act as a catalyst for future investment and in turn create more jobs in Sheffield.

We must nurture the relationships this has created and hopefully we can reap the benefits it brings.
