It is one of most cherished day’s out for any child in Sheffield.
A visit to Weston Park Museum is always a lot of fun whether it is a school trip of with family.
And now the museum is calling on the people of the city to help them revamp the museum’s art and archaeology galleries and inspire new displays about Sheffield’s wildlife or history.
Museum bosses are hope visitors and businesses will help to smash their target of £1 million through the I Love My Museum appeal.
There can’t be many places in Sheffield where the young, and for that matter the old, can learn in such a fun environment.
Museums used to be stuffy institutions but in modern times they have been made much more accessible for everyone to enjoy.
But they have to carry on adapting if they are to remain exciting places to visit over and over again.
Weston Park’s aims to improve their galleries and displays – particularly in explaining Sheffield’s history – is one that we should all get behind.
The city has a proud heritage that we can all share in.
Every pound helps to preserve our history and tell the story of Sheffield to the next generations.
