NEW internet portals have been launched for South Yorkshire residents to trace their ancestors through local archives.
The county’s archives and local studies services have been working together collating information from registers of births, baptisms, marriages, deaths and burials.
Wills and military records, electoral registers, title deeds and court records have also been used.
A spokesman for the South Yorkshire archives and local studies services said: “It has taken two years to check the data, edit it and prepare it for publication.
“The new guide covers Barnsley Archives and Local Studies, Doncaster Archives, Doncaster Local Studies, Rotherham Archives and Local Studies, Sheffield Archives and Sheffield Local Studies.
