AN INDEPENDENT shop in Sheffield is closing due to spiralling costs in the recession.
Kuji, which has been based on Ecclesall Road for 18 months, will still sell fashion, art and jewellery but from its boutique www.kujishop.co.uk online.
But one full-time and three part-time staff members will lose their jobs when the store shuts by June 16.
Greg Thomas, manager of the online shop, said: “It’s because of increasing rates and a lack of footfall really.
“We knew it was going to be tough times and we were prepared for that but it is really quiet - people can’t afford to buy things.
“I’m going to keep as much as possible for sale in the online boutique.”
