ROAD safety changes are being considered for Sheffield neighbourhoods.
The proposals involve creating a one-way system at Skelton Lane, Woodhouse, and improving crossing points on Springwater Avenue and Birley Spa Lane, Hackenthorpe.
The Woodhouse scheme aims to alleviate congestion caused by parked cars and would cost £30,000 for road layout changes. Objections have come from Woodhouse Health Centre due to delays for doctors and ambulances. Council officers admit there is also potential for traffic to divert on to residential roads.
The council’s south east community assembly will consider the one-way and an alternative of parking restrictions at a meeting on Thursday, January 10, from 7pm, at Birley Community College.
