POP sensation Louis Tomlinson was celebrating yesterday after his band notched up an amazing chart double.

The South Yorkshire boyband star and his One Direction bandmates saw latest single Little Things, and new album Take Me Home, rocket into the number one spot on both the singles and albums charts.

The all-conquering boyband, who have achieved global fame since being brought together on the X Factor in 2010, dethroned Robbie Williams, knocking the former Take That star from top spot in both charts.

Little Things is the band’s second number one single in the UK following on from their debut What Makes You Beautiful which hit the top spot in 2011. The band’s debut album, Up All Night, made number two on its release.

Louis, aged 20, from Bessacarr in Doncaster, who kicked off this year’s BBC Children In Need spectacular with a live performance with One Direction, has also been marking his first anniversary with girlfriend Eleanor Calder.

A delighted Louis told his seven million followers on Twitter: “The biggest thank you possible in 140 characters to everyone worldwide who has bought our album and single. You inspire us!”

The album has also gone in at number one in Belgium, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Holland and Ireland.

The band have clocked up global album sales of more than 12 million, their debut album went to the top in the US – something even The Beatles never managed – and they have scooped a Brit award and three MTV Music awards.
