Thrybergh Country Park is to host a day of fun – and families are being invited to get ready, get set and go.
The Back to School Family Sports Day, to be held on Saturday, September 22, between 11am and 3pm, will allow people of all ages to pick up a score pad and take part in as many fun games and challenges as they want.
The event includes wacky relays, bug and spoon races, a tug of war, wellington boot tossing, circus skills, penalty shoot out, woodlouse racing and more.
The day, which is organised in conjunction with Rotherham Council’s sports development team and DC Leisure, will have teams competing for points to win tasty treats from the Country Park Café.
Contestants do not have to participate in every event, but the more games played means the greater the opportunity to gain points.
From each team, the person with the highest score can claim a free main meal and every participant wins a hot drink or children’s Slushy.
Coun Amy Rushforth, council cabinet member for culture and tourism, said: “Staff and rangers at the park have thought of some fantastic events for the day.”
