Yorkshire’s success in the Olympics is having an impact on the recruitment of sales and marketing professionals, according to Rotherham-based Elevation Recruitment.
Athletes from the region, led by Sheffield’s Jessica Ennis, won seven gold medals, two silver and three bronzes – good enough to be 12th in the medals table if the region were an independent country.
Elevation’s business manager and sales and marketing recruitment specialist Rachael Lee believes that has played its part in a doubling in requests for sales and marketing professionals.
“We’ve seen a very sudden increase in roles within the marketing and sales departments of many large manufacturing companies, which we can only attribute to renewed interest in the region following Yorkshire’s Olympic success,” says Rachael.
“With the economy slowly on the mend and Yorkshire’s reputation for success on the rise, businesses have been keen to increase their sales and marketing presence.
“The increase comes as the region continues to buck national recruitment trends, particularly within the engineering and manufacturing sectors and this impressive performance is another strong indicator that many local businesses are benefiting from the reputation and success of the region as a manufacturing powerhouse on both a national and international scale.”
