TEN years of reunions of old Sheffield school pals were marked with a lunchtime celebration at a city pub.

Lads from the old Hunters Bar School have been meeting for the last decade after being inspired by a ladies’ group which first got together in 1999.

The lunch at The Greystones featured a sports quiz, old school photos, and memories of headteachers and other staff.

The party followed the ladies’ 10-year party at The Beauchief three years ago.

June Cooper, organiser for the clubs, said everyone had enjoyed the occasion.

“At our meetings we have former school head boys and girls, sports captains and couples who have married,” she said.

“The oldest lads’ member is Ron Turner who is 92, and who enjoys reading the newsletters.

“We have a mailing list sending news to people in Australia, Canada, Mallorca and South Africa, as well as around the UK, so we are a very active group.”
