Work to demolish a former sheltered housing complex is set to start in just over a week’s time and residents will soon be asked for their views on the future use of the site.
Contractors are due to start on site at Woodview House, Eckington, on Monday, October 17.
Work to strip out the interior is due to take 10 weeks, and then the building itself will be bulldozed later in the year.
The project was due to start in August, but was delayed due to an issue with a gas main under the site.
The facility, owned by North East Derbyshire Council, was closed last year because it no longer met modern housing standards and the cost of refurbishment was prohibitively high.
Once the site is cleared it will be landscaped, grassed and a fence put round it to keep it secure.
