AN OVERGROWN allotment in a South Yorkshire village has benefited from a £60,000 restoration project.
Work has been carried out at Highgate Allotments, in Goldthorpe, by Barnsley Council, Groundwork Dearne Valley, NHS Barnsley and the Renaissance Market Towns scheme.
Barnsley Council provided trainees from the Future Jobs Fund scheme to clear weeds, improve pathways, install water stand pipes and perimeter fencing.
Now there are 27 extra plots available for local people to lease. Anyone interested should call 01226 774 353.
