Anyone seeking a spot of sunshine and sand should head to landlocked Rotherham instead.
The seaside has arrived for the ninth year running in the town centre.
Sand, deckchairs, fish and chips and ice cream will all be on hand for Rotherham-by-the-Sea, which started on Monday and continues until Saturday.
Family activities at the free event include a funfair with helter skelter, face painting, cheerleading workshop, bingo and a limbo competition.
There will also be craft workshops during the week at the Arts Hub in the Imperial Building
Daily themes will include High School Musical, pirates, Disney, the circus, Hawaii and soldiers and nurses day.
Coun Gerald Smith, cabinet member for town centres at Rotherham Council, said: “The people of Rotherham genuinely look forward to all the activities going on over the week, flocking to the square and really joining in the seaside spirit.
“We are just keeping our fingers crossed for the weather to be kind to us.”
