A PENSIONER has been hurt in a collision with a car as he crossed a Sheffield road.

The 80-year-old from Batemoor was struck by a silver Mercedes A140 as he was crossing the Greenhill Parkway, Greenhill.

Police said the car involved was travelling away from the Meadowhead roundabout towards Bradway when the man was struck near the junction with Greenhill Avenue.

He suffered serious injuries to his left shoulder and wrist and was taken to Northern General hospital and detained.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 45-year-old woman from Greenhill, Sheffield, was unharmed.

Witnesses to the collision at 6.50pm on Monday, or anyone who saw the circumstances leading up to it, is asked to call police on 0114 220 2020.
