A WOMAN escaped with minor injuries after falling onto the tracks at Chesterfield train station and becoming trapped between two train carriages.

The 39-year-old, from Barrow Hill, was freed by firefighters before being taken to Chesterfield Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

Police said she did not suffer serious injuries.

A PENSIONER was taken to hospital after firefighters rescued her from her cellar after she was overcome by fumes from creosote she was using. The OAP’s plight was discovered after concerned neighbours raised the alarm when they reported a strong smell of fumes coming from her home on Fox Hill Road, Birley Carr, Sheffield. Fire crew members said the elderly woman was conscious and breathing when they arrived.

CHRIS Littlewood is once again preparing to open up her garden for charity - and this time hopes to smash the £1,000 barrier. Chris, of Fearneleigh, Meadowhead Avenue, Meadowhead, Sheffield, opened her garden last month and raised a total of £970 for children’s cancer charity PACT. She’ll be doing it again between 1pm and 5pm on May 28 and 29, selling plants and serving refreshments. Admission is £2 for adults and free for children.

POLICE found 15 cannabis plants after raiding a house on Vauxhall Road, Wincobank, Sheffield. A man arrested over the discovery has been charged with producing cannabis.

A MAN was attacked by two thugs and robbed of his mobile phone as he walked along St Ann’s Road, Heeley, Sheffield. He was targeted by two white men who punched him.

A SET of keys was stolen after a home on Batemoor Road, Batemoor, was broken into. The thief or culprits responsible smashed a pane of glass to snatch the keys.

JEWELLERY and cash were stolen from a house on Gervase Drive, Lowedges, after entry was gained through an insecure door. Police are investigating.
