Sheffield should continue to have 84 councillors, consultation has suggested.
The Local Government Boundary Commission for England said it was ‘minded’ to recommend the city council should retain its amount of councillors as part of an electorial review.
It is now asking residents for help in drawing up new council wards.
Max Caller, commission chairman, said: “On evidence presented, we are minded to recommend Sheffield should have 84 councillors in future, the same as current arrangements.
“As we develop recommendations we will take into account community identities as well as ensuring electoral equality.
