Nuisance neighbours to face eviction order

YOB tenants have ignored a court order to quit their Sheffield council flat - and are now set to be booted out.

Judge John Swanson told tenant Rachel Smith and her boyfriend James Johnson to leave the flat they share in Ridal Close, Stocksbridge, by December 23.

But the couple ignored the order, made at Sheffield County Court, and have failed to hand in their keys to landlord Sheffield Homes.

A spokeswoman for the company said: "We will now be taking action to evict them."

During the court hearing, at which Sheffield Homes and Sheffield Council were granted a possession order for the flat, it was revealed Smith and Johnson, both 35, had committed "aggressive and intimidating behaviour on the estate".

When one neighbour complained about loud music played from their flat, his window was covered in paint.

It was also claimed Mr Johnson was aggressive to housing officers who visited Miss Smith's property.

And last February, the court was told Smith assaulted another resident and an employee of maintenance company Kier Sheffield, who had been called out after Johnson lost the keys to his flat, in nearby Rydal Avenue.

Smith pleaded guilty to two counts of battery at Sheffield Magistrates' Court in May and received a non-custodial sentence. Johnson was evicted from his own property for terrorising pensioners - but moved in with Smith.
