Signs advertising student properties to let on a Sheffield street have been removed in a crackdown.
In total 18 signs on Shoreham Street have been taken down after landlords were told they were causing a ‘nuisance’ and were found to be illegal.
Reports to yesterday’s Sheffield Council planning committee added: “A further 46 letters were sent to landlords asking for signs to be removed once the properties had been let and, as a result, a further 20 signs were removed.”
The report on work by the council’s planning enforcement team also said 133 complaints had been received between April and June.
Most concerned unauthorised development and use, and failure to comply with planning conditions.
