Joan Quirke believed the two scrap men who offered to remove her rusting Mini would be of help, but she wishes they’d never called.
She left them to remove the vehicle from her garden on Gaunt Road, Gleadless Valley.
But when she returned they had taken the seats out and left them on her lawn, stolen two sheets of metal fencing and dumped two television sets and some carpet to boot.
Joan, aged 78, said: “I told them they could have the Mini as long as they left everything else as they found it.
“It was a rotten thing to do, especially when they were getting something for nothing.”
