Nominations as new chief

Have your say

With James Newman’s retirement after five successful years, you invite suggestions for the next head of Sheffield City Region LEP Business.

I would chose Hugh Facey, of Gripple/Loadhog, or Tony Stewart of ASL Lighting (and New York Stadium & RUFC).

It seems that to get more responsibilities, and money for the economic region, covering nine authorities in South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and North Derbyshire, the Government say we must have an overall Mayor.

A good choice for this would be Richard Caborn, who though Labour, showed he could work with Conservative, and fellow Sheffielder, Seb Coe to bring the Olympics to London.

He is also the power behind the ‘Olympic Legacy Park’ in Sheffield’s East End, following the demolition of the Don Valley Stadium.
