Residents have vowed to continue monitoring noise from a new outdoor coffee bar offering shisha, after plans were approved.
Sheffield Council’s planning meeting heard the café, in a former car sales forecourt at the city end of Ecclesall Road, had begun operating and residents said noises had been reported up until midnight.
Councillors ‘reluctantly’ approved the application, which is for temporary use over two years, and said there were no planning reasons to refuse it.
A condition of the permission is it must now cease trading at 9pm.
Speaking afterwards, nearby residents Adrian Dench, Nancy Skinner and Jill Thompson said they would be monitoring noise ‘very closely’ and reporting incidents.
