No thought for home residents

WHAT an excellent letter by Mark Quinn on the closure of Birch Avenue Nursing Home.

Unfortunately, Woodland View home, Lightwood Lane, is also due to close. It's all about saving money. In total 100 beds will be lost for dementia patients. We, who have loved ones in Woodland View have been told final closure will be 2012. It could take all that time to find places in other nursing homes. Not all homes can take these patients. It must be an EMI one.

People who made this decision have no thought for residents or relatives. It is a dreadful illness and to watch the deterioration in a loved one is heartbreaking. For this decision to be made is wicked and sinful. I thank The Star for the publicity it is giving to these closures.
