EVER since Pippa Middleton bent down to straighten out her sister’s wedding dress and flashed the world her toned derriere, women everywhere have been desperate to know her secret.
SINCE Pippa Middleton bent down to straighten out her sister’s wedding dress and flashed the world her toned derriere, women everywhere have been desperate to know her secret.
Luckily for us, it didn’t take long for the 26-year-old to spill the beans. She attributes her slinky silhouette to regular sessions of pilates, which she teams with cardio workouts such as swimming and tennis.
“From core strength and muscle toning to overall flexibility and relaxation, my weekly pilates sessions have become a necessity,” Pippa confessed.
Jennifers Aniston and Lopez also swear by the discipline, while Kate Winslet says 20-minute daily sessions keep her trim and relaxed.
Hallelujah! This is great news. After all, we all have access to local pilates classes and I’ve already googled my local gym’s timetable and signed myself up for the next session.
And the revelation from P-Middy got me thinking, about what other tips we can steal from the stars.
Luckily, Miss Middleton is not the only lady in the limelight happy to reveal her secrets...
Actress Renee Zelwegger famously gained 20 pounds to play the role of Bridget Jones and was the first to admit losing it was no piece of cake.
Renee used the celeb-favoured Zone diet, which centres on a 40, 30, 30 ratio of calories obtained from carbohydrates, proteins, and fats every meal. Renee said losing weight is tough but that it helps to have a plan to stick to.
Pippa’s sister Kate – that’s the Duchess of Cambridge to you and I – builds exercise into her daily routine and before she was a royal was often seen cycling to the gym to give herself a double dose of exercise.
Kelly Brook swears that variety is the key to staying motivated. She does dancing fitness classes with her friends and enjoys aqua aerobics, exercising with a stability ball and circuit training – which, again, can be done at most local gyms. Kelly also recommends some weight training and says that women shouldn’t avoid it for fear of bulking up.
Sixty-five year old Dame Helen Mirren couldn’t look better and claims it’s all thanks to her new best friend – the Wii Fit!
“The Wii is fun, and varied so it’s a great fitness program,” she said. “You can jog, do yoga, hula and step, all in one session. I never get bored!”
Nicole Kidman says it’s all about portion control and Cheryl Cole says skipping meals is the worst thing you can do.
Both opt for several small meals a day, with plenty of protein and Nicole recommends having dessert with lunch instead of dinner, to give you chance to burn it off.
Pint-sized pop princess Kylie Minogue follows the Montignac Diet Plan which replaces sugar with sweetener, white bread and rice with wholewheat, and potatos with a side vegetable.
Denise Van Outen refused to bow to pressure to lose weight quickly after giving birth last year and claims she got her figure back by eating scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast, filled pittas for lunch and by dancing around the house as much as possible!
