Nice day for Kev and Jen's bike wedding
IN an aqua coloured halter neck wedding dress the bride looked simply stunning.
In leather trousers, waistcoat and a dickey bow the groom looked simply stunned - and no wonder.
When Kev Villiers, aged 47, proposed to his bride-to-be Jen Hadfield, 31, he hoped that a few friends would turn up at their wedding.
But when the couple, of Jeffcock Road, Shiregreen, tied the knot there were hundreds of guests and well-wishers to witness the happy day - and most of them arrived on motorcycles.
Kev, who lost count at 110 bikes, explained that he and Jen are both members of the Virago Star Owners Club - and most of the wedding guests are fellow members.
"I couldn't believe how many turned up," said Kev, who married Jen in a civil ceremony held at Pastures Lodge in Mexborough.
"There were bikers there from all around Britain as well as from Holland, Switzerland and Germany.
"It really made our day and they looked after us like royalty."
Kev, who was recently made redundant from a concrete plant, first met Jen, who works as payroll supervisor, at a VSOC rally in Sweden - and it wasn't exactly love at first bike.
Kev said: "I ride a Virago 750 and Jen a Wild Star 1600.
"I was a little drunk when we first met and probably made a bit of a fool of myself, I don't think she initially that impressed.
"But in the days that followed we travelled through Sweden and onto Holland together when we really got to know one another and the relationship went on from there."
Kev, who for 24 years, served the Royal Engineers in Germany, Bosnia, Croatia and the Falklands, said both he and his bride love bikes and, above all, the biking social scene.
He said: "We try to get to as many events as we can and always have a brilliant time.
"Bikers come from every walk of life, doctors to mechanics, secretaries to school teachers, policemen to priests you name it.
"There are so many interesting people to meet and so much to talk about - I fully recommend it."
Following the wedding service Jen, Kev and their guests zoomed off to hold a reception at Castle Park, home of Doncaster Rugby Union Football Club, where they had a great time dancing away to good old fashioned rock 'n' roll.
