A WORLD War Two veteran aged 90 has had his medals and medication stolen in a break-in at his Sheffield home.
A bottle of liquid diamorphine – which could cause serious illness or prove fatal if taken by a child – as well as four medals mounted together was stolen in a burglary in the Birley Spa Lane area.
The old soldier, who does not want to be named, served in the jungles of Burma and was Mentioned in Dispatches for gallantry after he risked his life to keep open telephone communications while under fire from the Japanese.
The burglary was reported to police on December 28 last year, but inquiries so far have drawn a blank. Call 101 and quote incident 518 of December 28.
TWO men were arrested after police turned up at a property in Wincobank to find a boiler had been stolen. They arrested two suspects during a search of the area on Wednesday. In a separate case, a boiler was stolen from an unoccupied property on Lupton Road, Lowedges, between January 10 and 15.
