NEWS IN BRIEF: Warning over fake police fraudsters

POLICE have warned South Yorkshire residents to be on their guard against fraudsters who make phone calls impersonating police officers.

South Yorkshire Police have been notified of a spate of bogus calls from scammers who claim to be investigating credit card fraud.

The fake police officers have called businesses and residents and during their questions have asked for details of debit and credit cards.

Call police on 101.

Choir hit right note

SOUTH Yorkshire male voice choir Bolsterstone have a double Christmas date in Sheffield on Sunday, December 4.

They will be singing at a free carol concert in the Winter Garden at 1pm and also at a candlelit carol concert at St.Luke’s Hospice, Little Common Lane, Whirlow, at 5.15pm, in aid of St Luke’s.

Waxing fundraiser

SHEFFIELD estate agent Nick Walsham had his legs waxed for charity.

Nick, branch manager of Haybrook in Chapeltown, was raising money for his company’s charity Magic Moments, which supports children hospices.

Gavin is new chief

CHESTERFIELD Royal Hospital has appointed a new chief executive.

Gavin Boyle, currently chief executive at Yeovil District Hospital, will arrive next March to take over from Eric Morton, who has been with the Royal for almost 20 years.
