NEWS IN BRIEF: Trio rescued after car park blunder

THREE people were rescued from their car after over-shooting a parking space - and sending their vehicle teetering over the edge of a South Yorkshire hotel car park.

The Fiat Punto was in danger of dropping several feet after getting stuck on the edge of a wall at the Holiday Inn, Bawtry Road West, Rotherham. Firemen secured a winch to the vehicle while its occupants, from Hemsworth, got out, at 11.30pm on Saturday. No-one was injured.

Walker hurt ankle

A WOMAN on holiday in the Peak District was treated in the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield after tripping on a rocky path while walking near Hathersage. The 52-year-old from Whitley Bay was out in the Over Owler Tor area when she hurt her right ankle. Edale and Buxton mountain rescue team carried her to an ambulance.

POLICE still want to speak to witnesses after a 37-year-old biker broke both his legs in a crash in Sheffield last Wednesday evening. The motorcyclist was thrown from his blue Sukida on Crowder Road, Longley. Call 101.
