NEWS IN BRIEF: School boiler room floods after deluge

A SCHOOL boiler room was flooded following heavy rain and firefighters were called to pump the water away.

The flood occurred at Rockingham Junior and Infants School, in Roughwood Road, Kimberworth at around 3.50pm on Monday.

Deliberate car fires

FIREFIGHTERS around South Yorkshire were kept busy dealing with car fires which had been started deliberately on Monday night.

A Peugeot 307 was set alight in a car park off Lidget Close, Thurnscoe, Rotherham, while a Ford Focus car was found burning in Southend Road, Wybourn, and a Honda Civic was set on fire in Long Lane, Treeton.

Thieves flee blaze

THIEVES who are believed to have started a fire to burn plastic sheathing off scrap metal fled as the blaze got out of hand.

Firefighters from Rotherham Station attended the blaze on land off Waddington Way, Aldwarke, at 6am yesterday and brought the fire under control.

Train breaks down

RAIL services were cancelled and a road was blocked for two hours when a train broke down on a level crossing on Kirton Lane, Stainforth, Doncaster. The train suffered a mechanical fault at around 6am on Monday.

Sneak-in burglary

A HOUSE on Cambridge Road, Heeley, Sheffield, was burgled by an intruder who sneaked in through an unlocked door, on Friday, September 14.
