LORD Howard of Lympne will be the special guest at the 2012 St Luke’s Hospice Chatsworth Dinner.

The former Home Secretary is chairman of national charity Help the Hospices. The dinner is at the Carriage House Restaurant, Chatsworth, with champagne reception in the Cavendish Rooms, on March 3. Tickets are £60. Call 0114 236 9911.

Laying down law

LECTURES for Lent are at St Andrew’s Church on Psalter Lane, Sheffield for five weeks from February 29. They focus on the law ‘codes’ in the Old Testament, with the question ‘What is the point of studying these things today?’ Free lectures are at 7pm
