NEWS IN BRIEF: Police probe spate of burglaries

POLICE are investigating burglaries of homes on Myrtle Crescent, Arbourthorne, and Leighton Road, Gleadless Valley.

A door was forced open at one property and the other had a glass door panel smashed so entry could be gained.

In another break-in on Batemoor Road, Batemoor, Sheffield, a wooden panel was removed from a boarded up window.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.

Drug factory find

A CANNABIS factory was busted by police in a raid at a house on Raeburn Way, Gleadless Valley, Sheffield.

A police probe is underway.

Arrests after raids

TWO arrests were made by police after two drugs raids in Sheffield.

One man was arrested in Shirecliffe on suspicion of possession with intent to supply after officers found a number of wraps of cannabis.

And another man was arrested in Parson Cross after four cannabis plants were found growing in a house.

Car damage charge

A BOY, aged 13, is due in court after being charged with four counts of causing criminal damage to cars on Princess Street in Barnsley.

The offences began in February.

Alcohol opinions

BARNSLEY residents are being asked for their views on whether a ‘Designated Public Place Order’ should be introduced in Ardsley, Stairfoot and Kendray - giving police the power to stop people drinking on the streets. The aim is to reduce alcohol-fuelled anti-social behaviour.

Quad bike seized

A QUAD bike and two mini-motos were seized by police in a crackdown on nuisance off road bikers.

The Kendray and Worsbrough Safer Neighbourhood Team has been addressing the issue following complaints from local residents.

Vehicles damaged

PAINT stripper was used to damage four vehicles parked on Burton Road, Monk Bretton, Barnsley.
