A PENSIONER was taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries after a two-car collision in Sheffield.

Firefighters had to cut the 75-year-old man free from his car, which had ended up half in the air on a bollard on Leppings Lane, Hillsborough, and he was taken to the Northern General Hospital. A second person suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Offices evacuated

STAFF had to be evacuated from offices in Sheffield city centre after a fire in the air conditioning system left the building smoke-logged. Nobody was hurt in the incident at the Lloyds Banking Group building on Furnival Road.

ARSONISTS are believed to be responsible for two car fires. Firefighters tackled a burning Renault Clio outside The Ring O’Bells pub, Fenton Road, Rotherham, and a BMW 3 series in a field off Hand Lane, Barnsley.

FAMILIES had to be evacuated from flats late at night after a fire in a communal area. Police are investigating the blaze, at a housing complex on Bakewell Road, Matlock, which happened at 12.20am yesterday.
