Young musicians are helping Bawtry’s late night shopping evenings go with a swing.

Members of Doncaster’s William Appleby Music Centre in Danum Road are performing for residents and visitors at the Thursday evening events being held throughout December.

The William Appleby Centre is centrally funded and attendance is free of charge to pupils of Doncaster local authority schools. The work of the centre forms an essential part of the instrumental training given to pupils, complementing the musical opportunities found in schools.

Children praised

the amount of anti-social behaviour in the Doncaster village of Misterton is falling, with only three incidents reported in November when there is usually a spike because of Mischief Night. PCSO Dave Airey is visiting schools and youth clubs to thank their children.

Plan develops

more than 1,000 responses to the questionnaire about the Hatfield Village Plan have been received by organisers Chris Skelton and Martin Wraith who plan to publish it next March after the responses have been discussed with town councillors.

Site refused

A PLANNING application for a travellers’ caravan site in Apy Hill Lane, Tickhill, has been refused by Doncaster Council but it is expected an appeal will be lodged in the next few weeks, the Town Council has been informed.

Bin blaze

Fire crews from Doncaster station were called to Laughton Road at Hexthorpe early yesterday when a street bin was deliberately set alight.

Relax with yoga

The Doncaster Clinic Studio in Strathmore Road, Town Moor, is offering pre-Christmas yoga sessions to reduce stress with beginner sessions on Thursday from 6.15pm to 7.30pm.
