Twenty staff have lost their jobs at construction and support services group Carillion’s operations in Sheffield.

The group says the finance jobs are going as part of the process of bringing the Sheffield office, by the Park Square roundabout, in line with its overall operations.

Some finance jobs will remain in the city, but the rest of the work will be taken over by Carillion’s centralised finance service, which includes operations in India.

OAP hurt in crash

A MAN in his 70s was taken to hospital after a collision outside Asda on Handsworth Road, Sheffield.

He suffered a crush injury to his hand following the two-car smash which left a vehicle on its side just after 4pm on Thursday. A female in the car did not need hospital attention.

Child safety shock

A TOTAL of 157 out of 216 child car seats checked by Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership in towns including Chesterfield and Staveley failed.
