A DOG was killed and two drivers needed hospital treatment following a car smash in South Yorkshire.
The crash happened on Sheffield Road, Conisbrough, on Sunday, at about 8.35am, and involved a black Vauxhall Astra and white Citroen DS3.
The male driver of the Astra was placed on a spinal board as a precautionary measure and taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
The female motorist in the Citroen was also taken to the infirmary. She was carrying two dogs in her car, one of which died during the collision.
POLICE are investigating a spate of thefts from vehicles in Sheffield.
One was on Wellcarr Road, Woodseats, overnight on Friday into Saturday last week and another on Meadowhead last Friday.
A vehicle was broken into on Nettleham Road, Woodseats, last Wednesday and another on Elwood Road, Beauchief, overnight on Thursday .
A FIRE crew rescued a woman when a blaze broke out at her first-floor flat.
The fire, sparked by the woman’s cooker, happened on Newland Dale, Chesterfield, on Friday, at about 7.15pm.
Firefighters saw smoke pouring from the windows when they arrived, and her smoke alarm had also alerted neighbours to the blaze.
The crew helped the woman out of her property.
Crews tackle blaze
FIREFIGHTERS put out a burning bin in Staveley.
The bin was set alight on Staveley Road in the early hours of Saturday morning and was severely damaged by the flames.
Crew members used a water jet to douse the fire.
Firefighters from Bolsover also put out a blazing skip on Park Road, Shirebrook, at about 7.20pm on Saturday.
Car enters ditch
A FAMILY walked away uninjured after their car crashed into a ditch near Sheffield.
The accident happened on Sunday at about 9.45pm at Mortimer Road, Ewden.
The family, including a man and woman aged in their 50s and two young men in their 20s, were helped out of their blue Hyundai car by firefighters.
