THE Wadsley and Loxley Commoners invite people to join them to hear what the group has been doing over the last year on Monday, at Wadsley Church Hall, Worrall Road, from 7.30pm.

Following this, there will be a talk by historian, Malcolm Nunn, called Jack Ambler’s Collection of photos of Old Oughtibridge.

Celebrating apples

APPLES will be celebrated at a Sheffield orchard.

Beighton Orchard is celebrating Apple Day on Saturday, from 10.30am to 2pm.

Visitors will be able to ‘taste a variety of and find out more about one of Sheffield’s few remaining old orchards’.

Blindfold shopping

SHOPPERS are being encouraged to take to the aisles blindfolded to raise awareness of regular eye tests.

Bramley and Wickersley Lions members are running the event at Morrisons, Bramley, tomorrow, from 11am to 3pm.

Organisers are also collecting used spectacles to recycle and send to third world countries.
